Rhino River Camp
is a new
eco-friendly
luxury lodge
located in Meru
National Park,
Kenya, where the
legend of Elsa
the lioness
began.
Rhino River Camp
offers safari
accommodation in
eight cottages
built of caramel
canvas and
sustainable
hardwood, raised
on platforms
above the gently
flowing Kindani
River.
Each
room at the
Rhino River Camp
is spacious and
comfortable and
have views over
the river and
its huge raffia
palms, yellow
fever trees, and
tamarinds. The
camp meets most
of its energy
needs through
solar and
hydro-electric
power, using the
abundant
sunshine and
flowing rivers
of the area to
full advantage.
We operate a
scheme whereby
the communities
of the
surrounding
villages receive
a percentage of
the profits made
by the camp
Within the Camp
guests can enjoy
the sights and
sounds over 180
species of
different
colourful birds,
together with
resident mammals
that include
Syke's monkeys,
baboons, dik
diks, bush
babies,
porcupines, and
the occasional
bush buck. Meru
N. P. is also
home to species
as reticulated
giraffe, Grevy's
zebra, gerenuk,
and Oryx which
are not to be
found in many
other National
Parks or areas
in Kenya. Read
